Facebook Buys Instagram for $1B!

Facebook Buys Instagram
If you didn't read this you must truly be isolated.
This past week, Facebook bought Instagram for a cool $1 billion. You can check out the story on Mashable.com

Instagram is a photo sharing and filter app for the iPhone with the Android app just coming line a short while ago. I use Instagram quite a bit for sharing photos on Facebook and Twitter.

The news of the sale seemed to have mixed reactions. Most of those reactions seem to be pretty negative. I've read in several different articles from Mashable, Techcrunch and other tech news publishers that Instagram users are leaving in droves.

It's almost like Facebook has taken on a big brother type image to many people. Strictly controlling user content on Facebook, asserting outrageous trademark rights on it's platform (for your information, Facebook recently asserted trademark over generic words used on it's platform such as "Face", "Book", "Wall", and "Poke" to name a few). This combined with it's constantly changing privacy settings and TOS has rightfully left people feeling a deep-seated mistrust.

That's just my opinion.

What do you think of this move by Facebook to shore up it's mobile presence in the face (please don't sue me for trademark infringement Facebook...LOL!) of it's impending IPO?

I'm not sure on what to say about this investment. $1 billion is definitely a HUGE amount for something like Instagram, it even beat the price tags of some really powerful business solution software. But then again, it might be the perfect time to spend for Facebook.
